Colossians 3:9-10

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. (ESV)

Consider: If we’ve put on the “new self,” don’t be tempted to put the “old self” back on.

Hebrews 2:1

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. (NIV)

Consider: We can’t ignore our relationship with God or we will drift and our relationship with Him will weaken.

Matthew 18:15

[Jesus says,] “If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.” (NIV)

Consider: When something goes wrong in a relationship, don’t ignore it, go behind someone’s back, or make a bigger deal out of it than what it is. The solution is simple. Too many times we make it more complicated than it needs to be.

1 Corinthians 14:33

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (KJV)

Consider: When God is involved in our life, peace is always close by.

Jeremiah 2:27

[God says,] “To an image carved from a piece of wood they say, ‘You are my father.’ To an idol chiseled out of stone they say, ‘You are my mother.’ They turn their backs on me, but in times of trouble they cry out for me to save them!” (NLT)

Consider: Do I turn my back on God instead of thanking Him for all the blessings He’s provided?

Deuteronomy 31:8

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (NIV)

Consider: We don’t have to worry or be afraid because we know that God is always present with us, even when He seems far away.

Psalm 66:20

Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! (NIV)

Consider: To be more like the Lord, I need to remember not to withhold love from others.

Psalm 56:11

In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? (ESV)

Consider: Do I worry more about what men say or what God says? Whose “opinion” do I value more?

Psalm 22:11

Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. (NIV)

Consider: Even when I can’t see or feel God, I know His presence is there with me.

1 Corinthians 4:3-4

What about me? Have I been faithful? Well, it matters very little what you or anyone else thinks. I don’t even trust my own judgment on this point. My conscience is clear, but that isn’t what matters. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide. (NLT)

Consider: People’s opinions are just that – their opinions. Ultimately, I am responsible to God for my thoughts and actions.
